Description

Chicken and Broccoli is a classic stir-fry dish combining tender slices of chicken breast with crisp-tender broccoli in a savory garlic soy sauce. It’s quick, healthy, and perfect for busy weeknights when you want something satisfying and delicious.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced
  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth or water
  • For the Sauce:
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together all sauce ingredients until smooth. Set aside.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add chicken slices and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5–6 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, add remaining oil and sauté garlic and ginger for 30 seconds.
  4. Add broccoli and chicken broth, cover, and steam for 2–3 minutes until broccoli is tender-crisp.
  5. Return chicken to the pan and pour the sauce over. Stir-fry everything together for another 2–3 minutes, until sauce thickens and coats the chicken and broccoli.
  6. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles if desired.

Notes

  • Swap broccoli for snow peas, green beans, or mixed vegetables.
  • For extra heat, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a dash of sriracha to the sauce.
  • Make it gluten-free by using tamari instead of soy sauce.
  • Double the sauce if you like it extra saucy over rice!
