Description
Chicken and Broccoli is a classic stir-fry dish combining tender slices of chicken breast with crisp-tender broccoli in a savory garlic soy sauce. It’s quick, healthy, and perfect for busy weeknights when you want something satisfying and delicious.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced
- 4 cups broccoli florets
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1/4 cup chicken broth or water
- For the Sauce:
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together all sauce ingredients until smooth. Set aside.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add chicken slices and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5–6 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, add remaining oil and sauté garlic and ginger for 30 seconds.
- Add broccoli and chicken broth, cover, and steam for 2–3 minutes until broccoli is tender-crisp.
- Return chicken to the pan and pour the sauce over. Stir-fry everything together for another 2–3 minutes, until sauce thickens and coats the chicken and broccoli.
- Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles if desired.
Notes
- Swap broccoli for snow peas, green beans, or mixed vegetables.
- For extra heat, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a dash of sriracha to the sauce.
- Make it gluten-free by using tamari instead of soy sauce.
- Double the sauce if you like it extra saucy over rice!
