With a tasty chicken filling, seasoned with fresh herbs and spices, all encased in a crispy, soft burger bun, this dish is a fun twist on traditional burgers. Perfect for a weeknight dinner or a unique party dish!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Chicken Dumpling Filling:

  • 1 lb ground chicken

  • 1/2 cup cabbage, finely chopped

  • 2 green onions, chopped

  • 1 tbsp ginger, grated

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

  • 1 tsp rice vinegar

  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper

  • Salt to taste

For the Burger Buns:

  • 4 soft burger buns

  • 1 tbsp butter (for toasting the buns)

  • 4 lettuce leaves (optional)

  • Sliced tomato (optional)

For the Dipping Sauce (optional):

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar

  • 1 tsp sesame oil

  • 1/2 tsp honey (optional for sweetness)

  • 1/4 tsp chili flakes (optional for heat)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chicken dumpling filling:

    • In a mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, chopped cabbage, green onions, grated ginger, minced garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, black pepper, and salt. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly incorporated.

  2. Form the burger patties:

    • Divide the chicken mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a round patty, roughly the size of your burger buns. You may need to press the edges slightly to ensure the patty holds its shape.

  3. Cook the patties:

    • Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat and lightly grease it with a little oil or non-stick spray.

    • Cook the patties for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the patties are golden brown and cooked through.

  4. Toast the buns:

    • While the patties cook, melt the butter in a separate pan over medium heat.

    • Cut the burger buns in half and toast them in the pan for 1-2 minutes until golden brown. Set aside.

  5. Assemble the burgers:

    • Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each toasted bun (optional), then add a chicken dumpling patty.

    • Top with sliced tomato (optional) and the top half of the bun.

  6. Make the dipping sauce (optional):

    • In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, honey (if using), and chili flakes (if desired).

  7. Serve:

    • Serve the Chicken Dumpling Burgers immediately, with the dipping sauce on the side for added flavor.

Notes

  • If you prefer a more crispy exterior, you can lightly pan-fry the chicken patties until golden and crispy.

  • You can add extra toppings like pickles, avocado, or cucumber to enhance the burger’s flavor.

  • These burgers can be served as is or with a side of fries or a salad.

  • For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free burger buns and ensure that the soy sauce is gluten-free
