Description

Chicken & Shrimp Stuffed Shells are a savory and decadent dish filled with tender chicken, shrimp, and a creamy ricotta mixture, all wrapped in jumbo pasta shells and baked in marinara sauce. This is the ultimate comfort food for seafood and pasta lovers!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound jumbo pasta shells
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound chicken breast, cooked and shredded
  • 1/2 pound shrimp, peeled, deveined, and chopped
  • 1 (15 oz) container ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 (24 oz) jar marinara sauce
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Cook the Pasta: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook the jumbo pasta shells according to package instructions. Drain and set aside to cool slightly.
  • Prepare the Filling: In a large bowl, combine the shredded chicken, chopped shrimp, ricotta cheese, 1 cup of mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir until well mixed.
  • Stuff the Shells: Carefully stuff each cooked pasta shell with the chicken and shrimp mixture.
  • Assemble the Casserole: In a 9×13-inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom. Arrange the stuffed shells in the dish in a single layer. Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the stuffed shells, ensuring they are covered.
  • Add Cheese: Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese over the top of the stuffed shells.
  • Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Serve: Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

  • You can substitute the shrimp with other seafood like crab meat if desired.
  • For a creamier dish, you can mix in a little heavy cream or add some cream cheese to the filling.
  • This recipe can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge for 1-2 days before baking.
  • For added flavor, top the shells with extra Parmesan cheese or a drizzle of olive oil before baking.
