Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound jumbo pasta shells
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound chicken breast, cooked and shredded
- 1/2 pound shrimp, peeled, deveined, and chopped
- 1 (15 oz) container ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 (24 oz) jar marinara sauce
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook the jumbo pasta shells according to package instructions. Drain and set aside to cool slightly.
- Prepare the Filling: In a large bowl, combine the shredded chicken, chopped shrimp, ricotta cheese, 1 cup of mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir until well mixed.
- Stuff the Shells: Carefully stuff each cooked pasta shell with the chicken and shrimp mixture.
- Assemble the Casserole: In a 9×13-inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom. Arrange the stuffed shells in the dish in a single layer. Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the stuffed shells, ensuring they are covered.
- Add Cheese: Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese over the top of the stuffed shells.
- Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve: Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving. Enjoy!
Notes
- You can substitute the shrimp with other seafood like crab meat if desired.
- For a creamier dish, you can mix in a little heavy cream or add some cream cheese to the filling.
- This recipe can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge for 1-2 days before baking.
- For added flavor, top the shells with extra Parmesan cheese or a drizzle of olive oil before baking.
