Ingredients
Scale
- For the Garlic Butter:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- For the Chili Crunch:
- 2 tablespoons chili oil (or more for extra spice)
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- 1 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon honey (optional, for a touch of sweetness)
- For the Bread:
- 1 large loaf of French bread or baguette
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for drizzling)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Make the garlic butter: In a bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix until fully combined.
- Slice the French bread or baguette in half lengthwise, then spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread.
- Place the bread halves on the baking sheet, cut side up, and drizzle with a bit of olive oil on top for extra crispiness. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the butter has melted into the bread.
- While the bread is baking, prepare the chili crunch: In a small bowl, mix together the chili oil, sesame seeds, crushed red pepper flakes, soy sauce, and honey (if using). Stir until well combined.
- Once the garlic bread is out of the oven, drizzle the chili crunch mixture over the hot bread, making sure to coat it generously with the spicy, crunchy topping.
- Slice and serve immediately. Enjoy your spicy, garlicky, and crunchy bread!
Notes
- You can adjust the spice level by adding more or less chili oil and red pepper flakes to your chili crunch mixture.
- If you prefer a less intense garlic flavor, you can use roasted garlic instead of fresh minced garlic.
- This chili crunch garlic bread pairs beautifully with pasta, soups, or just as a snack on its own.
- For extra texture, try sprinkling some grated Parmesan cheese on top of the garlic butter before baking, and broil for the last 2 minutes for a golden, cheesy crust.
