Description
A rich and indulgent dessert featuring layers of fudgy brownies, creamy chocolate mousse, and whipped topping, beautifully assembled in a trifle dish for a show-stopping presentation.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 batch of brownies (store-bought or homemade, about 9×13-inch pan)
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (melted and slightly cooled)
- 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
- 1 tub (8 oz) whipped topping (e.g., Cool Whip)
- Chocolate shavings or mini chocolate chips for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Cut the prepared brownies into small cubes and set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form. Set aside half for topping.
- In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Add the melted chocolate and mix until well combined.
- Fold in half of the whipped cream and all of the whipped topping into the chocolate-cream cheese mixture to create the mousse.
- In a large trifle dish or individual glasses, layer half of the brownie cubes, followed by half of the mousse, then a layer of reserved whipped cream.
- Repeat the layers with remaining brownies, mousse, and top with whipped cream.
- Garnish with chocolate shavings or mini chocolate chips if desired.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
Notes
- Make the brownies a day ahead for easier cutting and layering.
- You can use dark chocolate chips for a richer mousse.
- Trifle can be made 1 day in advance; store covered in the refrigerator.
