Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (heat-treated to make it safe for raw consumption)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2–3 tbsp milk (or dairy-free milk for a vegan version)
- 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
- Optional: 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (if desired)
Instructions
- Prepare the Ingredients:
- To make the flour safe for eating, heat it in the microwave for 1-2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds. Alternatively, you can bake it at 350°F (175°C) for 5-7 minutes to kill any harmful bacteria.
- Make the Dough:
- In a medium bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar with an electric mixer until creamy and smooth.
- Add the vanilla extract and salt, and mix until combined.
- Gradually add the flour and mix until just incorporated. The dough will be thick.
- Add 2 tbsp of milk and mix until the dough comes together. If the dough seems too dry, add the additional tablespoon of milk. The texture should be soft but firm enough to roll into balls.
- Fold in the Chocolate Chips:
- Gently fold in the mini chocolate chips and nuts (if using).
- Form the Dough Balls:
- Roll the dough into tablespoon-sized balls using your hands or a small cookie scoop. Place the balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet or plate.
- Chill and Set:
- Place the cookie dough balls in the refrigerator for 30-60 minutes to firm up.
- Serve and Enjoy:
- Once chilled, enjoy these edible cookie dough balls as a sweet snack or treat. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
Notes
- Storage: Store the dough balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. You can also freeze them for up to 2 months.
