Description

These Chocolate Chip Muffins are the perfect balance of fluffy, moist, and indulgent. With pockets of melty chocolate chips throughout, these muffins are a classic treat that’s perfect for breakfast, a snack, or even a dessert. The light, airy texture and rich chocolate flavor make these muffins a hit with everyone!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup whole milk (or buttermilk for extra richness)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Optional: 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (if you like nuts in your muffins)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a muffin tin with paper liners or grease the cups with non-stick spray.
  2. Prepare the Dry Ingredients:
    • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, granulated sugar, and brown sugar.
  3. Mix the Wet Ingredients:
    • In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and then add the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Stir until well combined.
  4. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:
    • Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir gently with a spatula or spoon until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; the batter should be a little lumpy.
  5. Add the Chocolate Chips:
    • Fold in the chocolate chips (and nuts, if using) until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  6. Fill the Muffin Cups:
    • Divide the batter evenly among the muffin cups, filling each about 2/3 full. This should make about 12 muffins.
  7. Bake the Muffins:
    • Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean (with just a few crumbs, but no wet batter). You can also gently press the top of a muffin to check if it bounces back.
    • Let the muffins cool in the tin for about 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Serve and Enjoy:
    • Serve these warm with a cup of coffee or milk for a delicious treat!

Notes

  • For a healthier twist, you can substitute half of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour.
  • If you want extra chocolate flavor, you can fold in some mini chocolate chips in addition to the regular chips.
  • To keep the muffins extra moist, avoid overbaking them.
