Description

Indulge in these soft and gooey Chocolate Cinnamon Rolls, topped with a luscious Hazelnut Icing. Perfect for cozy mornings or as a decadent dessert!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Dough:

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet instant yeast (2 1/4 tsp)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg

For the Filling:

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • (Optional) 1/2 cup crushed nuts (e.g., hazelnuts or pecans)

For the Hazelnut Icing:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup hazelnut spread (e.g., Nutella)
  • 23 tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, yeast, and salt. Add warm milk, melted butter, and egg; stir until a soft dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for about 1 hour until doubled.
  2. Make the Filling: Mix brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
  3. Assemble the Rolls: Roll out dough into a rectangle (12×18 inches). Spread softened butter over the dough and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar mixture and nuts if using. Roll tightly from one long edge and cut into 12 slices.
  4. Second Rise: Place rolls in a greased baking dish with space between them. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  5. Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for about 25 minutes until golden.
  6. Make the Icing: Whisk together powdered sugar, hazelnut spread, and milk until smooth.
  7. Glaze the Rolls: Allow rolls to cool slightly before drizzling with icing.
  8. Serve and Enjoy: Best served warm with coffee or hot chocolate.

Notes

  • For best results, ensure your yeast is fresh.
  • You can prepare the rolls ahead of time by refrigerating them before the second rise.
  • Feel free to customize fillings by adding chocolate chips or different nuts.
