Description
These chocolate-covered heart-shaped pretzels are the perfect sweet-and-salty treat for any occasion, especially Valentine’s Day! Crispy pretzels dipped in smooth, rich chocolate and decorated with sprinkles or toppings make these irresistible and fun to make.
Ingredients
Scale
- 10–12 heart-shaped pretzels (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or milk chocolate chips
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil or coconut oil (to thin the chocolate)
- 1/4 cup sprinkles (optional)
- 1/4 cup crushed nuts (optional)
- 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)
- Sea salt (optional, for a salty kick)
Instructions
- Prepare the Pretzels:
- If you’re using store-bought heart-shaped pretzels, skip to step 2. If you’re shaping your own pretzels, roll out the dough and form them into heart shapes before baking according to the package or recipe instructions.
- Melt the Chocolate:
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and vegetable oil. Microwave in 20-30 second intervals, stirring in between, until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
- Dip the Pretzels:
- Dip each heart-shaped pretzel into the melted chocolate, covering it completely or halfway, depending on your preference.
- Use a fork to lift the pretzel out of the chocolate, allowing any excess chocolate to drip off. Place the dipped pretzel onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Add Toppings:
- While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle your choice of toppings onto the chocolate-covered pretzel. You can use sprinkles, crushed nuts, mini chocolate chips, or a light sprinkling of sea salt for a sweet and salty flavor combination.
- Chill and Set:
- Place the baking sheet with the pretzels in the refrigerator for 15-30 minutes, or until the chocolate has completely hardened.
- Serve:
- Once the chocolate has set, serve the heart-shaped pretzels as a sweet treat, gift them to someone special, or store them in an airtight container for up to a week.
Notes
- You can use white chocolate or dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate for a different flavor.
- Add a variety of toppings like crushed candy, sprinkles, or even drizzle with more melted chocolate for a decorative touch.
- These pretzels make great gifts—just package them in cute gift bags or boxes for a personalized treat!
