Description

These Chocolate Covered Pretzels are the perfect combination of salty and sweet, with a smooth chocolate coating and fun sprinkles for decoration. Easy to make and completely customizable with your favorite toppings, these treats are great for parties, holiday gifting, or just satisfying your snack cravings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 50 miniature pretzel twists or 24 pretzel rods
  • 12 ounces chocolate chips or candy melts (milk, white, dark, or a combination)
  • ½ cup sprinkles (for decorating)
  • 1 tablespoon shortening (only if using chocolate chips; not needed for candy melts)

Instructions

  • Melt the Chocolate:
Place the chocolate chips or candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl. If using chocolate chips, add 1 tablespoon of shortening to the bowl for a smoother consistency. Microwave the chocolate in 30-second increments, stirring after each, until fully melted and smooth.
  • Dip the Pretzels:

    For Pretzel Rods:
Transfer the melted chocolate to a tall glass. Dip each pretzel rod halfway into the chocolate. Gently tap the rod against the side of the glass to remove excess chocolate. Decorate with sprinkles while the chocolate is still wet. Place on parchment paper to set.

    For Pretzel Twists:
Use a fork to dip each pretzel twist into the chocolate, ensuring it’s fully coated. Tap the fork gently against the side of the bowl to remove excess chocolate. Use a toothpick to slide each pretzel off the fork onto parchment paper. Sprinkle with your chosen decorations.

  • Let Set and Store:
Allow the chocolate-covered pretzels to sit at room temperature until the chocolate is fully set and firm. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

  • Shortening is used only with chocolate chips to ensure a smooth, shiny finish. It’s not needed if you’re using candy melts.
  • Make sure the pretzels are completely cool and dry before dipping to avoid excess moisture from affecting the chocolate.
  • You can also use crushed nuts, coconut flakes, or colorful sprinkles for decoration.
