Description

These Chocolate Hazelnut Crunch Cookies combine the rich flavors of chocolate and toasted hazelnuts, creating a perfect balance of crunch and sweetness. Ideal for an indulgent treat or a special occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
  • 1 cup toasted hazelnuts, chopped
  • 1/2 cup rice cereal (like Rice Krispies, for crunch)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, and mix until smooth.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Stir in cocoa powder until well incorporated.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips, chopped hazelnuts, and rice cereal for the crunchy texture.
  7. Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set and the cookies are slightly cracked on top. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For extra richness, you can use a mix of dark and milk chocolate chips.
  • If you prefer a smoother texture, you can blend the hazelnuts into smaller pieces or use hazelnut flour.
  • These cookies store well in an airtight container for up to 5 days, or freeze for longer storage.
