  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar

For the Peanut Butter Frosting:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: Preheat to 325°F (165°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round pans.
  • Make the Chocolate Cake: Whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Cream Butter and Sugar: Beat the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add Eggs and Vanilla: Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
  • Combine Dry and Wet Ingredients: Gradually add dry ingredients, alternating with buttermilk, until just combined.
  • Divide the Batter: Evenly divide the batter between the prepared pans.
  • Prepare the Peanut Butter Cheesecake: Beat cream cheese until smooth, then add sugar and beat until creamy.

  • Prepare the Frosting: Beat butter and creamy peanut butter until creamy, then gradually add powdered sugar and heavy cream. Stir in vanilla.
  • Assemble the Cake: Frost the first layer, place the second layer cheesecake side down, and frost the entire cake.
