Description

Indulge in this decadent Chocolate Peanut Butter Earthquake Cake, a delightful combination of rich chocolate cake topped with creamy peanut butter frosting, chocolate chips, and peanut butter cups. Perfect for gatherings or a special treat at home!


Ingredients

  • 1 chocolate fudge cake mix (plus ingredients needed to prepare)
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 1/24 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chocolate peanut butter cups, halved

Instructions

  • Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Prepare cake mix: Prepare chocolate cake mix according to package instructions and pour into a lightly greased 9×13 inch cake pan. Do not bake. Set aside.
  • Make peanut butter frosting: Melt butter on the stovetop until bubbly. In a mixing bowl, beat melted butter and cream cheese until smooth. Add peanut butter and vanilla extract, and beat until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar, beating until incorporated and the mixture is light and fluffy.
  • Assemble: Scoop spoonfuls of peanut butter frosting onto the chocolate cake batter. Sprinkle with chocolate chips and halved peanut butter cups.
  • Bake: Bake for 45-55 minutes, or until the center is only slightly jiggly. Let cool for 15-20 minutes before slicing and serving.
