- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp peppermint extract
- For the glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tbsp milk
- 1/2 tsp peppermint extract
- Crushed candy canes for topping
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix buttermilk, oil, egg, vanilla extract, and peppermint extract.
- Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Spoon batter into donut pan cavities, filling about 3/4 full.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let donuts cool in pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
- For glaze, whisk powdered sugar, milk, and peppermint extract until smooth. Adjust consistency as needed.
- Dip cooled donuts into glaze and sprinkle with crushed candy canes.
- Let glaze set before serving.

- Donuts can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
- For a richer glaze, add a tablespoon of melted white chocolate.
