Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups mini pretzels (twists or sticks)
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 1/2 cups milk chocolate chips (or semi-sweet)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chopped salted peanuts (optional, for extra crunch)
Instructions
- Prepare the Pretzels: Break the mini pretzels into smaller pieces by hand or with a rolling pin. Place them in a large mixing bowl and set aside.
- Make the Peanut Butter Mixture: In a medium saucepan, melt the peanut butter and butter over medium heat, stirring constantly until smooth and well combined. Once melted, remove from the heat and stir in the powdered sugar and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
- Combine with Pretzels: Pour the peanut butter mixture over the pretzel pieces and toss gently to coat all the pretzels. The mixture will be sticky, but make sure the pretzels are well-coated with the peanut butter mixture.
- Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, heat the chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth and fully melted. Alternatively, you can melt the chocolate in a double boiler on the stove.
- Form the Clusters: Drop spoonfuls of the peanut butter-covered pretzel mixture onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. Spoon a small amount of melted chocolate on top of each cluster to cover the mixture. For extra crunch, sprinkle chopped salted peanuts on top of each cluster.
- Cool and Set: Allow the clusters to cool and set at room temperature for 30-60 minutes. Alternatively, you can refrigerate them for 15-20 minutes to speed up the process.
- Serve: Once the chocolate has hardened, serve and enjoy these sweet and salty clusters! They are perfect for gifting, parties, or enjoying as an everyday snack.
Notes
- You can substitute crunchy peanut butter for the creamy variety for a different texture.
- For a different twist, try adding mini M&M’s or caramel bits to the clusters for extra sweetness and color.
- Store the clusters in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or refrigerate for longer shelf life.
