- 1 sleeve of saltine crackers (about 40 crackers)
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ½ tsp salt (optional, to enhance flavor)
- ½ cup granulated sugar (for coating)
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon (for coating)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- Arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. You can break them up slightly to fit the whole sheet.
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar and bring the mixture to a boil. Let it boil for 3-4 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Pour the caramel-like mixture evenly over the crackers, making sure each cracker is covered.
- Bake the crackers in the preheated oven for 5-6 minutes, or until the mixture is bubbling and golden.
- While the crackers are baking, mix together the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon in a small bowl for the topping.
- Remove the crackers from the oven and immediately sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the hot, caramelized crackers.
- Let the churro crack cool completely on the baking sheet. Once cooled, break it into pieces and enjoy!

- For an extra touch, you can drizzle melted chocolate over the cooled crackers.
- Be sure to cool the mixture fully before breaking it into pieces to keep the texture crunchy.
- If you don’t have saltine crackers, you can substitute with other plain crackers like Ritz or Club crackers.
