Description

Churro Crack is the ultimate sweet and salty treat, combining buttery crackers, cinnamon sugar, and a caramel-like coating. It’s as irresistible as it sounds, perfect for any party or as an easy homemade snack!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sleeve of saltine crackers (about 40 crackers)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp salt (optional, to enhance flavor)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon (for coating)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. You can break them up slightly to fit the whole sheet.
  3. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar and bring the mixture to a boil. Let it boil for 3-4 minutes, stirring constantly.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Pour the caramel-like mixture evenly over the crackers, making sure each cracker is covered.
  6. Bake the crackers in the preheated oven for 5-6 minutes, or until the mixture is bubbling and golden.
  7. While the crackers are baking, mix together the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon in a small bowl for the topping.
  8. Remove the crackers from the oven and immediately sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the hot, caramelized crackers.
  9. Let the churro crack cool completely on the baking sheet. Once cooled, break it into pieces and enjoy!

Notes

  • For an extra touch, you can drizzle melted chocolate over the cooled crackers.
  • Be sure to cool the mixture fully before breaking it into pieces to keep the texture crunchy.
  • If you don’t have saltine crackers, you can substitute with other plain crackers like Ritz or Club crackers.
