Description

Cinnamon Apple Chips are a deliciously healthy snack that combines the natural sweetness of apples with the warm, comforting flavor of cinnamon. These crispy, baked chips are the perfect alternative to store-bought snacks, offering a satisfying crunch without any added sugar or preservatives. Ideal for a guilt-free snack or as a topping for oatmeal and salads.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium apples (preferably a firm variety like Fuji, Gala, or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey (for extra sweetness)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°F (93°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
  2. Core and slice the apples thinly, about 1/8-inch thick. You can use a mandoline slicer for uniform slices.
  3. In a small bowl, combine the cinnamon, salt, and optional sweetener (if using).
  4. Sprinkle the cinnamon mixture evenly over the apple slices, and toss gently to coat each slice.
  5. Arrange the apple slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheets, ensuring they don’t overlap.
  6. Drizzle the apple slices with lemon juice to prevent browning and add a subtle tartness.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 1.5 to 2 hours, flipping the slices halfway through the baking time, until the chips are dry and crispy.
  8. Allow the apple chips to cool completely on the baking sheets. They will crisp up even more as they cool.
  9. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.

Notes

  • Use firm apples for the best results; softer apples tend to become mushy during baking.
  • If you want to make these chips even crispier, bake them a little longer, but keep an eye on them to prevent burning.
  • These apple chips can be made ahead of time and stored in an airtight container for a quick snack.
  • If you prefer a sweeter version, drizzle with a small amount of honey or maple syrup before baking.
