Ingredients
Scale
For the Donuts:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- ¾ cup buttermilk (or milk with 1/2 tsp vinegar)
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
For the Cinnamon Sugar Coating:
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut pan with non-stick spray.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Set aside.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, beat together the sugar and eggs until well combined. Add the buttermilk, melted butter, and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
- Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Fill the Pan: Transfer the batter to a piping bag or a ziplock bag with the corner snipped off. Pipe the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.
- Bake: Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the donuts are golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- Prepare the Cinnamon Sugar: In a small bowl, mix together the granulated sugar and cinnamon for the coating.
- Coat the Donuts: While the donuts are still warm, toss them in the cinnamon sugar until well coated.
Notes
For a richer flavor, you can add a pinch of nutmeg to the cinnamon sugar mixture.
