Description

Delight in these warm, fluffy Cinnamon Sugar Donuts, perfect for breakfast or as a sweet treat any time of day. Coated in a delicious cinnamon-sugar blend, these donuts are sure to please!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Donuts:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¾ cup buttermilk (or milk with 1/2 tsp vinegar)
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Cinnamon Sugar Coating:

  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut pan with non-stick spray.
  • Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Set aside.
  • Mix Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, beat together the sugar and eggs until well combined. Add the buttermilk, melted butter, and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
  • Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Fill the Pan: Transfer the batter to a piping bag or a ziplock bag with the corner snipped off. Pipe the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.
  • Bake: Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the donuts are golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  • Prepare the Cinnamon Sugar: In a small bowl, mix together the granulated sugar and cinnamon for the coating.
  • Coat the Donuts: While the donuts are still warm, toss them in the cinnamon sugar until well coated.

Notes

For a richer flavor, you can add a pinch of nutmeg to the cinnamon sugar mixture.
