Description

Delightful Coffee Cinnamon Rolls topped with a light brown coffee frosting, perfect for cozy mornings or a special brunch!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Dough:

  • 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F)
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour

For the Filling:

  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, softened

For the Coffee Frosting:

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk (about 110°F). Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy. Add sugar, melted butter, eggs, salt, and flour. Mix until well combined, forming a soft dough.
  • Knead the Dough: On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Let It Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  • Prepare the Filling: Roll out the dough into a large rectangle (approximately 16×21 inches). Spread softened butter evenly over the dough, then sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  • Shape the Rolls: Roll up the dough tightly from the long edge and cut into 12 equal slices. Place in a greased 9×13-inch baking pan, leaving space between each roll. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Prepare the Coffee Frosting: Beat together the softened butter, powdered sugar, cooled coffee, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until smooth and fluffy.
  • Frost the Rolls: Allow the rolls to cool slightly for about 5 minutes before generously spreading the coffee frosting over the warm cinnamon rolls.

Notes

  • Ensure milk is at the right temperature (around 110°F) to activate the yeast for the fluffiest cinnamon rolls.
  • For a bolder coffee flavor, substitute brewed coffee with espresso.
