Description

These chewy, soft, and delicious cookie bars are the perfect treat when you’re craving cookies but want an easier, no-fuss option. With the flavor of classic chocolate chip cookies but in a bar form, these are perfect for any occasion!


Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

 

  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:

    • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients:

    • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. Cream Butter and Sugars:

    • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add Eggs and Vanilla:

    • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:

    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Add Chocolate Chips:

    • Stir in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  7. Bake:

    • Spread the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan. Use a spatula to smooth the top.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown around the edges and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool and Slice:

    • Allow the bars to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, cut into squares and serve.

Notes

  • For a twist, you can add chopped nuts, like walnuts or pecans, to the dough.
