Description

These Cool Whip Cookies, also known as cake mix cookies, are light, fluffy, and made with just four ingredients! With no chilling required, they’re perfect for quick baking. Personalize them with your favorite candies for a colorful, crunchy treat that everyone will love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 box (16.25 ounces) white cake mix (or any flavor you like)
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 1/2 cups Cool Whip
  • 1 cup M&M’s, divided

Instructions

  • Prepare for Baking: Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, and place the powdered sugar in a shallow bowl. Set aside.
  • Mix the Dough: In a stand mixer (or with a hand mixer and large bowl), combine the cake mix, egg, and Cool Whip. Mix on medium speed for 3 to 5 minutes, until the batter becomes thick. If the batter seems too thick to scoop, add 1 to 2 tablespoons of water, then mix again until incorporated.
  • Add the M&M’s: Remove the bowl from the mixer and gently fold 3/4 cup of M&M’s into the batter using a spatula.
  • Form the Cookies: Using a cookie scoop, scoop out the dough and roll each portion into a ball. Roll each cookie ball in the powdered sugar to coat it fully, then place it on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Decorate with M&M’s: Press a few of the remaining M&M’s on top of each cookie ball for extra decoration.
  • Bake the Cookies: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the tops of the cookies are cracked. If you’re baking two sheets at once, rotate them halfway through the baking time for even cooking.
  • Cool and Serve: Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy these soft, sweet treats!

Notes

  • No chilling is required, making them quick to prepare.
  • Rolling in powdered sugar gives the cookies their signature crinkle look.
  • You can try different cake mix flavors like chocolate, lemon, or strawberry.
