Description
This Copycat Five Guys Double Patty Melt stacks two juicy beef patties with caramelized onions, melted American cheese, and tangy mayo between buttery grilled bread.
Ingredients
For the Patties:

1 lb 80/20 ground beef (divided into 4 thin 4oz patties)

1 tsp kosher salt

½ tsp black pepper

1 tsp garlic powder
For the Sandwich:

8 slices white bread (Texas toast style)

4 tbsp softened butter (divided)

4 slices American cheese
-
4 slices Swiss cheese
-
1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced

1 tbsp olive oil
-
¼ cup mayonnaise
-
1 tbsp ketchup
-
½ tsp smoked paprika
Instructions

Caramelize Onions: Cook onions in olive oil over low heat 25-30 mins until golden brown. Set aside.

Form Patties: Season beef with salt, pepper & garlic powder. Shape into 4 thin patties (1/4″ thick).

Cook Burgers: Sear patties in skillet over high heat 2 mins per side (medium-rare).

Make Sauce: Mix mayo, ketchup and smoked paprika.

Assemble: Butter one side of each bread slice. Layer (buttered side out): bread, American cheese, 2 patties, onions, Swiss cheese, bread.

Grill: Cook sandwiches in skillet over medium heat 3-4 mins per side until golden and cheese melts.
