Description

These Copycat Pizza Hut Breadsticks are soft, buttery, and perfectly seasoned, just like the ones you love from the pizza chain! With a simple dough recipe and a rich garlic butter topping, these homemade breadsticks will quickly become a favorite in your home. Perfect for dipping in marinara or ranch!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Dough:

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F/45°C)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

For the Garlic Butter Topping:

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for extra flavor)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Yeast Mixture:
In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir and let it sit for 5-10 minutes, or until the yeast becomes foamy and bubbly.
  2. Make the Dough:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil, and mix to form a dough. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  3. Let the Dough Rise:
Lightly grease the bowl and place the dough inside, turning it once to coat it with oil. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
  4. Shape the Dough:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle shape, about 12 inches by 8 inches. Transfer the dough to a greased baking sheet.
  5. Cut and Rest the Dough:
Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut the dough into strips (about 1-1.5 inches wide) to form the breadsticks. Cover the breadsticks with a towel and let them rest for 10-15 minutes.
  6. Bake the Breadsticks:
Bake the breadsticks in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
  7. Make the Garlic Butter:
While the breadsticks are baking, prepare the garlic butter by mixing the melted butter, minced garlic, oregano, salt, garlic powder, and Parmesan cheese (if using) in a small bowl.
  8. Finish the Breadsticks:
Once the breadsticks are baked, immediately brush them with the garlic butter mixture while they’re still hot. Be generous with the butter for maximum flavor!
  9. Serve:
Slice the breadsticks apart (if needed) and serve warm with marinara sauce or ranch for dipping.
  10. Enjoy:
Enjoy your homemade, buttery, garlicky pizza-inspired breadsticks!

Notes

  • For an even softer texture, you can cover the breadsticks with a kitchen towel right after baking and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
  • If you like your breadsticks extra cheesy, sprinkle shredded mozzarella on top before baking for a cheesy twist.
  • To make them even more like the Pizza Hut version, you can add a little more garlic butter topping after baking and before serving.
