Description

Cowboy Butter is a flavorful, rich, and versatile sauce made with butter, garlic, lemon, and a variety of seasonings. Perfect for dipping seafood, spreading on grilled meats, or using as a topping for bread or vegetables. It’s an easy recipe that brings bold, zesty flavor to any dish!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

  • 1 teaspoon fresh parsley, chopped

  • 1 teaspoon fresh chives, chopped

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Butter: In a small mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, garlic, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using).

  2. Mix Ingredients: Stir everything together until well combined.

  3. Add Fresh Herbs: Fold in the chopped parsley and chives.

  4. Serve: Transfer the cowboy butter to a serving dish and serve immediately, or refrigerate until ready to use.

    • For best results, let it sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.

Notes

  • Cowboy butter can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge for up to a week.

  • This sauce works great with shrimp, chicken, steak, or grilled vegetables.

  • For a spicier version, add more red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce.

  • You can also serve it as a dipping sauce for bread or biscuits.
