  • Yield: About 12-15 crab bombs (depending on size) 1x

Description

  • These Crab Bombs are packed with flavor, featuring tender crab meat, creamy cheese, and seasonings all rolled into a delicious crispy bite-sized ball. Perfect as an appetizer or a fun party snack, these are sure to impress your guests!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb lump crab meat, drained and flaked

  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise

  • 1/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese

  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions

  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs (plus extra for coating)

  • 1 large egg, beaten

  • Vegetable oil for frying (or olive oil for baking)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the crab meat, cream cheese, mayonnaise, Parmesan cheese, green onions, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, Old Bay seasoning, and black pepper. Stir until well mixed.

  2. Gently fold in 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs to the crab mixture to help bind the ingredients together.

  3. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of the crab mixture and roll them into balls.

  4. Roll each crab ball in additional panko breadcrumbs to coat evenly.

  5. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the crab bombs into the oil and fry for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden and crispy. If baking, preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden.

  6. Remove the crab bombs from the skillet and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.

  7. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce, like cocktail sauce or a garlic aioli.

Notes

  • Be sure not to overmix the crab to keep the texture light and fluffy.

  • If you want a spicier version, add a few dashes of hot sauce or a pinch of cayenne pepper to the mixture.

  • For a low-carb version, skip the breadcrumbs and try coating the crab bombs in crushed almonds instead.
