Description

These Crack Chicken Pastry Puffs are a savory, indulgent treat filled with creamy chicken, cheddar, ranch dressing, and bacon, all wrapped in flaky puff pastry. Perfect for parties, game days, or family gatherings, these puffs are sure to be a crowd favorite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed if frozen
  • 1 cup cooked chicken, shredded (rotisserie chicken works well)
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons ranch dressing mix (or 1 packet)
  • 23 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (optional, for thinning egg wash)

Optional Garnishes:

  • Chopped parsley or chives

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat for easy cleanup.
  • Prepare the Filling:
In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken, softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, ranch dressing mix, and crumbled bacon. Mix until everything is fully combined and creamy.
  • Prepare the Puff Pastry:
Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Cut the sheet into 6 equal squares.
  • Assemble the Puffs:
Spoon a generous dollop of the chicken mixture onto the center of each square. Fold the corners of the pastry over the filling to create a pouch, pinching the edges to seal. Alternatively, fold diagonally to form triangles and seal the edges with a fork.
  • Brush with Egg Wash:
In a small bowl, whisk the egg with a splash of milk (optional, for thinning the egg wash). Brush the tops of the pastry puffs with the egg wash to achieve a golden, glossy color when baked.
  • Bake:
Transfer the pastry puffs to the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden brown and puffed up.
  • Garnish and Serve:
Remove the puffs from the oven and allow them to cool slightly. Garnish with chopped parsley or chives, if desired. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • These puffs can be prepared ahead of time and refrigerated until you’re ready to bake them.
  • Feel free to customize the filling by adding more spices or herbs to suit your taste.
  • These puffs are best served warm but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven to restore their flaky texture.
