Ingredients
Scale
- 4 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp flour
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Cook Potatoes: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add diced potatoes and cook until tender, about 10-12 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- Cook Peas: In the same pot, add the frozen peas and cook for 2-3 minutes, just until heated through. Drain and set aside with the potatoes.
- Make Cream Sauce: In a separate saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour, garlic powder, and onion powder, stirring to create a roux. Slowly add the milk and cream, whisking constantly until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.
- Combine: Add the cooked potatoes and peas to the cream sauce, stirring gently to coat. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley (optional) and serve hot as a side dish.
Notes
- For a lighter version, you can use half-and-half or low-fat milk instead of heavy cream.
- For extra flavor, try adding grated cheese to the sauce before mixing in the potatoes and peas.
- If you prefer a smoother sauce, you can blend the sauce before adding the potatoes and peas.
