Description

This comforting dish of tender potatoes and peas in a creamy sauce is the perfect side to any meal, offering a classic combination of flavors that everyone will love!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook Potatoes: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add diced potatoes and cook until tender, about 10-12 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. Cook Peas: In the same pot, add the frozen peas and cook for 2-3 minutes, just until heated through. Drain and set aside with the potatoes.
  3. Make Cream Sauce: In a separate saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour, garlic powder, and onion powder, stirring to create a roux. Slowly add the milk and cream, whisking constantly until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.
  4. Combine: Add the cooked potatoes and peas to the cream sauce, stirring gently to coat. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley (optional) and serve hot as a side dish.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, you can use half-and-half or low-fat milk instead of heavy cream.
  • For extra flavor, try adding grated cheese to the sauce before mixing in the potatoes and peas.
  • If you prefer a smoother sauce, you can blend the sauce before adding the potatoes and peas.
