Description

This Creamy Chicken Lasagna with White Sauce features layers of tender chicken, creamy ricotta, and a rich white sauce, all topped with gooey mozzarella cheese. It’s a comforting dish that the whole family will love!


Ingredients

  • Lasagna:
    • 9 lasagna noodles
    • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or diced
    • 2 cups ricotta cheese
    • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
    • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided
    • 1 cup fresh spinach, chopped (optional)
    • Salt and pepper to taste
  • White Sauce:
    • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
    • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
    • 3 cups milk
    • 1 cup heavy cream
    • 1 tsp garlic powder
    • ½ tsp onion powder
    • ½ tsp dried basil
    • ½ tsp dried oregano
    • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Prepare the Noodles: Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  • Make the White Sauce:
    • In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
    • Add flour and whisk for 1-2 minutes until lightly golden.
    • Slowly pour in milk and heavy cream, whisking constantly to prevent lumps.
    • Add garlic powder, onion powder, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Continue stirring until sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • Assemble Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine cooked chicken, ricotta cheese, 1 cup mozzarella, ¼ cup Parmesan, spinach (if using), salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  • Layer the Lasagna:
    • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Spread a thin layer of white sauce on the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.
    • Layer 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce. Spread ⅓ of the chicken mixture over the noodles, then top with ¼ cup mozzarella and a few spoonfuls of white sauce.
    • Repeat layers two more times, ending with a layer of noodles and the remaining white sauce. Top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  • Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden on top.
  • Serve: Let the lasagna cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy!
