Description

Creamy Dijon Mustard Chicken is a rich and flavorful dish featuring tender chicken breasts coated in a creamy sauce made with Dijon mustard, heavy cream, and a hint of garlic. This easy-to-make recipe is the perfect weeknight dinner, offering a comforting balance of tangy, savory, and creamy goodness that pairs wonderfully with rice or vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup Dijon mustard
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the chicken breasts and cook for 5-7 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the Dijon mustard, heavy cream, and chicken broth to the skillet, stirring to combine. Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook for 3-5 minutes until it thickens slightly.
  5. Return the chicken breasts to the skillet, spooning the sauce over the chicken. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through and allow the chicken to absorb some of the sauce.
  6. Serve the chicken with the creamy Dijon sauce on top, garnished with fresh parsley if desired. Pair with rice, mashed potatoes, or steamed vegetables.

Notes

  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, simmer the sauce for a few extra minutes to reduce it further.
  • For added flavor, you can deglaze the pan with a splash of white wine before adding the mustard and cream.
  • This dish pairs wonderfully with a side of steamed asparagus, rice, or mashed potatoes.
  • For a lighter version, you can use half-and-half instead of heavy cream, though the sauce may be slightly less rich.
