Description

A classic party favorite, this creamy French onion dip is perfect for gatherings. With caramelized onions mixed into a rich sour cream and mayonnaise base, it’s a hit with chips, veggies, or bread!


Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 large onions, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp sugar (optional)
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh chives (optional)

Instructions

  • Caramelize onions: Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add onions, salt, pepper, and sugar. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 20-25 minutes until caramelized. Remove from heat and let cool.
  • Combine: In a large bowl, mix sour cream, mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder until smooth.
  • Fold in onions: Add cooled onions to the mixture and mix well.
  • Chill: Refrigerate for 1 hour before serving.
  • Serve: Garnish with chopped chives before serving.
