Description

These Garlic Butter Steak Bites with mashed potatoes are the ultimate comfort food! Tender, flavorful steak bites cooked in a rich garlic butter sauce, paired with creamy mashed potatoes for the perfect hearty meal. Quick and easy, this recipe is ideal for a satisfying weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Steak Bites:

  • 1 lb steak (sirloin or ribeye), cut into bite-sized cubes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

For the Mashed Potatoes:

  • 2 pounds russet potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream or milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (optional for extra flavor)
  • 1/4 cup chopped chives (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. For the Steak Bites:
    1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
    2. Season the steak cubes with salt and pepper.
    3. Add the steak bites to the hot skillet and sear for 2-3 minutes, turning to cook all sides until browned and crispy. Remove the steak bites and set aside.
    4. In the same skillet, melt the butter and sauté the minced garlic for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
    5. Return the steak bites to the skillet and toss them in the garlic butter sauce. Cook for another 1-2 minutes for the steak to absorb the flavor.
    6. Garnish with chopped parsley (optional) and set aside.

    For the Mashed Potatoes:

    1. Boil the cubed potatoes in salted water for 15-20 minutes or until they are fork-tender.
    2. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.
    3. Add butter, heavy cream (or milk), and garlic (if using) to the pot and mash the potatoes until smooth and creamy.
    4. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with chopped chives (optional).

Notes

  • You can substitute the steak with chicken or even shrimp for a variation of this dish.
  • If you prefer a creamier texture for the mashed potatoes, add a bit more butter or cream.
  • For a lower-carb option, swap mashed potatoes with cauliflower mash.
