Ingredients
Scale
For the Steak Bites:
- 1 lb steak (sirloin or ribeye), cut into bite-sized cubes
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
For the Mashed Potatoes:
- 2 pounds russet potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 cup heavy cream or milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cloves garlic, minced (optional for extra flavor)
- 1/4 cup chopped chives (optional garnish)
Instructions
- For the Steak Bites:
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Season the steak cubes with salt and pepper.
- Add the steak bites to the hot skillet and sear for 2-3 minutes, turning to cook all sides until browned and crispy. Remove the steak bites and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt the butter and sauté the minced garlic for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Return the steak bites to the skillet and toss them in the garlic butter sauce. Cook for another 1-2 minutes for the steak to absorb the flavor.
- Garnish with chopped parsley (optional) and set aside.
For the Mashed Potatoes:
- Boil the cubed potatoes in salted water for 15-20 minutes or until they are fork-tender.
- Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.
- Add butter, heavy cream (or milk), and garlic (if using) to the pot and mash the potatoes until smooth and creamy.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with chopped chives (optional).
Notes
- You can substitute the steak with chicken or even shrimp for a variation of this dish.
- If you prefer a creamier texture for the mashed potatoes, add a bit more butter or cream.
- For a lower-carb option, swap mashed potatoes with cauliflower mash.
