Description

This Creamy Garlic Parmesan Shrimp is a rich and indulgent dish with tender shrimp smothered in a silky garlic Parmesan sauce. Perfect for a weeknight dinner or a special occasion, this dish pairs wonderfully with pasta, rice, or crusty bread to soak up the delicious sauce!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Shrimp:

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Creamy Garlic Parmesan Sauce:

  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the Shrimp:
    • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Season shrimp with salt and pepper.
    • Add shrimp to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
  2. Make the Creamy Garlic Parmesan Sauce:
    • In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
    • Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
    • Pour in the heavy cream and stir, bringing the mixture to a simmer.
    • Add the Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper. Stir until the sauce thickens, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Combine the Shrimp and Sauce:
    • Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat them in the creamy sauce.
    • Simmer for another 2-3 minutes to heat the shrimp through and allow the sauce to thicken further.
  4. Serve:
    • Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, you can substitute the heavy cream with half-and-half or milk, though the sauce may be less rich.
  • Serve with pasta, rice, or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
  • You can also add a squeeze of lemon juice for a little extra freshness.
