Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tbsp lemon zest
- 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice (about 2 lemons)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- Optional garnish: whipped cream, lemon slices, fresh mint
Instructions
- Prepare the Whipped Cream: In a medium bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream with an electric mixer on high speed until stiff peaks form. Set aside.
- Make the Lemon Cream Mixture: In a separate large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with the powdered sugar, lemon zest, fresh lemon juice, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- Combine the Whipped Cream and Lemon Mixture: Gently fold the whipped cream into the lemon cream mixture in batches. Be careful not to deflate the whipped cream too much—fold until smooth and well combined.
- Chill: Spoon the mousse into individual serving dishes or a large serving bowl. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours to let it firm up.
- Serve: Once chilled, garnish with whipped cream, a slice of lemon, or fresh mint leaves. Serve and enjoy!
Notes
- For a lighter mousse, you can use a little less cream cheese and increase the amount of whipped cream.
- You can add a bit of lemon extract if you prefer a more intense lemon flavor.
- If you want to add a crunchy texture, sprinkle crushed graham crackers or shortbread cookies on top before serving.
