Description

A creamy and comforting rice pudding infused with the refreshing taste of orange zest and juice. This indulgent dessert is perfect for cozy evenings and can be served warm or chilled.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Arborio rice
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp orange zest (from about 1 orange)
  • 2 tbsp fresh orange juice
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 tbsp butter (optional, for extra creaminess)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine rice, milk, sugar, and salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the mixture begins to simmer.
  2. Reduce the heat to low and continue to cook for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the rice is tender and the pudding has thickened.
  3. Stir in vanilla extract, orange zest, and orange juice. Cook for an additional 2 minutes to incorporate the flavors.
  4. If desired, stir in butter for a creamier texture.
  5. Remove from heat and let the pudding cool slightly. Serve warm or chilled, topped with a sprinkle of cinnamon or additional orange zest if desired.

Notes

  • For a dairy-free version, substitute coconut milk or almond milk for the whole milk.
  • This pudding can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Stir before serving if it thickens too much.
  • For extra sweetness, you can add a drizzle of honey or maple syrup before serving.
