Description
A deliciously crispy, cheesy, and creamy tuna melt sandwich perfect for a quick lunch or dinner. This comfort food classic combines flaky tuna with melty cheese and a creamy filling, grilled to golden perfection.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cans (5 oz each) tuna in water, drained
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
- 1/4 cup chopped celery
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 slices sourdough or rye bread
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, mix together the tuna, mayonnaise, mustard, red onion, celery, and parsley. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Lay out the bread slices on a clean surface. Spread the tuna mixture evenly over two slices of bread.
- Top each with two slices of cheddar cheese, then place the remaining bread slices on top to form sandwiches.
- Spread the softened butter on the outside of each sandwich slice.
- Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Place sandwiches in the skillet and cook until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove from skillet, slice in half if desired, and serve hot.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a slice of tomato or a few pickles before grilling.
- You can substitute cheddar with Swiss or provolone cheese.
- Use whole grain bread for a healthier alternative.
