Description

This Crispy Chicken Caesar Sandwich is a flavorful twist on the classic Caesar salad, featuring a crunchy, golden fried chicken breast paired with creamy Caesar dressing, crisp romaine lettuce, and parmesan cheese all tucked into a soft sandwich bun. Perfect for lunch or dinner, it’s a satisfying and tasty meal!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crispy Chicken:

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

  • 1 cup buttermilk

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crispiness)

  • Vegetable oil for frying

For the Sandwich:

  • 4 sandwich rolls or brioche buns

  • 1 cup romaine lettuce, shredded

  • 1/2 cup Caesar dressing (store-bought or homemade)

  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese

  • Optional: extra Caesar dressing for drizzling

Instructions

  1. . Prepare the Chicken:

    • In a bowl, season the buttermilk with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.

    • Submerge the chicken breasts in the buttermilk mixture and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to marinate (you can marinate up to 4 hours for more flavor).

    2. Coat the Chicken:

    • In a shallow dish, combine the flour and breadcrumbs.

    • After marinating, remove the chicken from the buttermilk and coat each breast in the flour and breadcrumb mixture, pressing lightly to ensure an even coating.

    3. Fry the Chicken:

    • Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat, ensuring there’s enough oil to cover the chicken halfway.

    • Fry the chicken for 5-7 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through (the internal temperature should reach 165°F).

    • Remove the chicken from the skillet and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

    4. Toast the Buns:

    • While the chicken is cooking, lightly toast the sandwich buns in the oven or on a skillet until golden brown.

    5. Assemble the Sandwich:

    • Spread Caesar dressing on the bottom half of each toasted bun.

    • Place a fried chicken breast on the bottom bun.

    • Top the chicken with shredded romaine lettuce and a generous sprinkle of parmesan cheese.

    • Drizzle more Caesar dressing over the lettuce if desired.

    • Close the sandwich with the top half of the bun.

    6. Serve:

Serve the Crispy Chicken Caesar Sandwich immediately with a side of fries, chips, or a light salad.

Notes

  • For a healthier version, you can bake the chicken instead of frying it. Simply coat the chicken and bake it on a greased baking sheet at 400°F for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through.

  • You can make your own Caesar dressing for a fresher taste or use a store-bought version if you’re short on time.

  • To add more flavor, top with some pickles or fresh tomatoes, or even swap out the romaine lettuce for arugula for a peppery twist.
