Description

  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract.
  3. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until smooth.
  4. Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Pour the batter into a squeeze bottle with a wide opening or a piping bag fitted with a large round tip.
  6. Squeeze the batter into the hot oil in long, thin strips, cooking a few at a time.
  7. Fry the strips for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  8. Remove the funnel cake fries with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  9. Dust the hot fries generously with powdered sugar before serving.
