Description
Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, these golden crab bites are packed with lump crab meat, herbs, and spices, then fried to perfection.

- 8 oz lump crab meat (drained and checked for shells)
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (panko preferred)
- 1/4 cup finely chopped green onions
- 1/4 cup finely chopped red bell pepper
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (for dredging)
- 1/2 cup additional panko breadcrumbs (for coating)
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Lemon wedges and tartar sauce for serving
Instructions
- In a large bowl, gently mix the crab meat, 1/2 cup breadcrumbs, green onions, red bell pepper, egg, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Shape the mixture into small bite-sized balls or patties, about 1 tablespoon each.
- Dredge each crab bite in flour, then coat with the additional panko breadcrumbs.
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat, about 1/2 inch deep.
- Fry the crab bites in batches for 2โ3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy. Avoid overcrowding the pan.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Serve warm with lemon wedges and tartar sauce.
Notes
- Chill the crab mixture before shaping if it feels too soft.
- For a healthier option, bake at 400ยฐF (200ยฐC) for 15โ18 minutes, flipping halfway.
- Try serving with spicy aioli or remoulade for extra flavor.
