Description

Crispy Ground Beef Tacos are a family favorite, featuring perfectly seasoned beef, crisp taco shells, and all the classic toppings! A quick and easy meal perfect for busy nights, these tacos deliver big flavor in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Ground Beef:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Taco Shells:

  • 8 small crispy taco shells (store-bought or homemade)

For Toppings:

  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 medium tomato, diced
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • Salsa (optional)
  • Jalapeños, sliced (optional)
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ground Beef:
In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
Drain excess fat, if needed. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, and cook for another 2-3 minutes until softened.
Stir in the taco seasoning and water, and simmer for 5-7 minutes until the beef is well coated and the sauce thickens. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  2. Prepare the Taco Shells:
If using store-bought crispy taco shells, heat them according to the package instructions. If making homemade crispy shells, fry them in hot oil until golden and crisp, then drain on paper towels.
  3. Assemble the Tacos:
Fill each taco shell with a generous portion of the seasoned ground beef mixture.
Top with shredded lettuce, cheese, diced tomato, sour cream, salsa, jalapeños, and cilantro.
  4. Serve and Enjoy:
Serve the tacos immediately with lime wedges on the side for extra freshness.

Notes

  • Feel free to swap ground beef for ground turkey, chicken, or even plant-based ground meat for a lighter or vegetarian version.
  • If you prefer your tacos spicier, add hot sauce or more jalapeños as toppings.
  • You can add more veggies like avocado, corn, or black beans for additional flavor and texture.
