Description

Crispy Honey-Glazed Shrimp is a delicious combination of crunchy fried shrimp tossed in a sticky, sweet-and-savory honey glaze. It’s perfect served over rice, noodles, or as an appetizer for a flavorful crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • For the Honey Glaze:
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch + 2 teaspoons water (slurry)
  • Sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pat shrimp dry with paper towels. In one bowl, whisk together cornstarch, flour, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Place the beaten eggs in another bowl.
  2. Dip each shrimp into the flour mixture, then into the egg, then back into the flour mixture, pressing lightly to coat well.
  3. Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a skillet or deep pan over medium-high heat. Once hot (350°F/175°C), fry the shrimp in batches for 2–3 minutes per side or until golden and crispy. Remove to a paper towel-lined plate.
  4. In a small saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
  5. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and continue to simmer until the glaze thickens slightly, about 2 minutes.
  6. Toss the crispy shrimp in the honey glaze until well coated.
  7. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, double-dip the shrimp in flour and egg.
  • This dish is best served fresh to maintain crispiness.
  • Use a non-stick skillet or deep fryer for even frying.
