Description

Deliciously crispy okra fries, perfect as a healthy snack or side dish with a flavorful crunch.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh okra, washed and sliced lengthwise
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • Cooking oil for frying (vegetable or canola oil)

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large skillet to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC).
  2. In a bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Dip okra slices in beaten eggs, then coat with the cornmeal mixture.
  4. Carefully fry okra in batches for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  6. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For a healthier version, bake the coated okra at 425ยฐF (220ยฐC) for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway.
  • Adjust seasoning to taste; add cayenne pepper for heat.
