Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs flank steak or ribeye, thinly sliced
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 1 large bell pepper, thinly sliced (optional)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup beef broth
- 8 hoagie rolls or sub rolls
- 8 slices provolone cheese (or American cheese)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced flank steak (or ribeye) and sear it for 2-3 minutes until browned. You can do this in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan.
- Transfer the seared steak to the Crock Pot. Add the sliced onion, bell pepper (if using), garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Stir everything to combine, then cover the Crock Pot with the lid.
- Cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours until the meat is tender and fully cooked.
- Once cooked, use tongs to stir and break up the meat into bite-sized pieces. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
- To assemble, scoop some of the meat mixture onto a hoagie roll and top with a slice of cheese. You can melt the cheese under the broiler or in the microwave, if desired.
- Serve hot and enjoy your Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches!
Notes
- If you prefer a cheesier sandwich, add more slices of cheese or even some shredded cheese on top.
- You can also sauté the onions and peppers beforehand for extra flavor, but cooking them in the Crock Pot with the beef will also give a nice, tender result.
- For a spicy twist, add sliced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce to the mix.
- Leftovers store well in the fridge and can be reheated for another meal or used in a wrap.
