Description

Crock Pot Strawberry and Cream Oatmeal is a warm, comforting breakfast made with steel-cut oats, sweet strawberries, and a creamy finish. It’s the perfect make-ahead morning meal that’s both healthy and delicious.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup steel-cut oats
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries, chopped
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup or honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream or half-and-half (for serving)
  • Additional strawberries and cream (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Grease the inside of the Crock Pot with a bit of butter or non-stick spray to prevent sticking.
  2. In the Crock Pot, combine the steel-cut oats, water, milk, strawberries, maple syrup (or honey), vanilla extract, and salt.
  3. Stir everything together and cover with the lid.
  4. Cook on low for 6–8 hours overnight, or on high for 3–4 hours until the oats are tender and creamy.
  5. Stir well before serving. Pour a bit of cream or half-and-half over each serving and top with additional strawberries if desired.

Notes

  • For extra richness, stir in a pat of butter or a spoonful of cream cheese before serving.
  • Adjust the sweetness by increasing or decreasing the maple syrup or honey to taste.
  • This recipe is great with other berries like blueberries or raspberries.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated with a splash of milk.
