Description
These crumbed sausages are a delicious and easy-to-make dish perfect for any occasion. Coated in crispy panko breadcrumbs, they can be baked, fried, or air-fried for a golden-brown finish. Serve them as a tasty appetizer or a satisfying main dish!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 1/2 cups panko breadcrumbs
- 3 teaspoons oil
- 1 1/2 teaspoons onion powder
- 1 teaspoon ground sage (optional)
- 1 tablespoon plain flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2–3 large eggs
- 8 regular beef sausages
Instructions
- Make the breadcrumbs: Mix the panko breadcrumbs and oil in a pan over medium heat. Cook, stirring regularly, until golden brown. Remove from heat and add the onion powder and sage. Mix well.
- Prepare the sausages: Prick the skins of the sausages with a sharp knife a couple of times.
- Coat the sausages: In one dish, combine the flour and salt. In another dish, beat 2 of the eggs. Coat each sausage in the flour mixture, then dip in the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off. Roll the sausages in the breadcrumb mixture, repeating the egg and crumb step a second time.
- Cook the sausages: Choose one of the following cooking methods:
- Oven: Place the sausages on a wire rack over a baking tray and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 20-25 minutes, turning halfway through.
- Frying: Heat oil in a pan over low-medium heat. Sauté the sausages, turning often, until browned all over and cooked through (about 25-30 minutes).
- Air fryer: Place the sausages in the air fryer basket and cook at 180°C (350°F) for 10-14 minutes.
- Serve: Enjoy your crumbed sausages!
Notes
For a spicier kick, consider adding some chili powder or paprika to the breadcrumb mixture.
