Description

A luscious dessert combining layers of rich chocolate cake, creamy cheesecake, and sweet cherry filling, perfect for special occasions or a delightful treat.


Ingredients

  • 1 box (18.25 ounces) chocolate cake mix
  • 1 box (3 ounces) instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 (8-ounce) package of cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 (12-ounce) can of cherry pie filling
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, instant pudding mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Beat until smooth.
  • Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 15-18 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Stir in vanilla.
  • Spread the cheesecake mixture over the cooled cake layer.
  • Top with cherry pie filling, chocolate chips, and walnuts, if desired.
  • Pour the remaining cake batter over the cheesecake layer and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes.
  • Let the cake cool completely in the pan before serving.

Notes

  • Can be made gluten-free with a gluten-free chocolate cake mix.
  • Substitute cherry pie filling with other fruit fillings for a different flavor.
