Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Crust:
    • 1 box Pillsbury ready-bake pie crust (comes with 2 rolled pie crusts)
  • For the Filling:
    • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
    • 1/2 pound ground beef
    • 1/2 pound Italian sausage (optional)
    • 1 cup pepperoni slices
    • 1 1/2 cups pizza sauce or marinara
    • 1 cup shredded cheddar or provolone cheese
    • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
    • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
    • 3 tablespoons melted butter (for brushing on top crust)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Filling:
Cook the ground beef and Italian sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat and set aside.
  • Preheat the Oven:
Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • Assemble the Pizza Pie:
    • Roll out the pie crust to fit a deep-dish pie pan or deep skillet.
    • Layer the bottom of the crust with half of the shredded mozzarella cheese.
    • Add a layer of the cooked ground beef, Italian sausage, and pepperoni slices.
    • Pour the pizza sauce or marinara evenly over the meat mixture and sprinkle with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes (if using).
    • Top with the remaining cheese and another layer of pepperoni slices.
    • Place the second pie crust on top, tucking in the edges. Brush the top crust with melted butter and sprinkle with a little garlic powder.
  • Bake the Pizza Pie:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
    • Let the pie cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • If you want to add a bit of crunch, sprinkle some crushed Ritz crackers or French fried onions on top before baking.
  • Feel free to use your favorite pizza sauce or marinara, or make your own for an extra flavor boost.
  • If you prefer a spicier pie, add a few dashes of hot sauce to the pizza sauce before adding it to the pie.
  • Make sure the pie crust is rolled thin enough to accommodate all the filling without overflowing.
  • For extra cheesiness, try adding more mozzarella or a combination of cheeses like provolone, gouda, or parmesan.
