Description

These Dinner Rolls are soft, fluffy, and buttery, making them the perfect accompaniment to any meal. Freshly baked and golden brown, they are ideal for any occasion and can be enjoyed with soups, stews, or as a delicious side to your favorite main dishes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F/45°C)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (for brushing)

Instructions

  • Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let the mixture sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
  • Mix the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 1/2 cups of flour, salt, the yeast mixture, melted butter, and the egg. Stir until a dough forms. Add more flour if needed until the dough is manageable.
  • Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use a stand mixer with a dough hook.
  • Let the Dough Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Shape the Rolls: Punch down the dough and divide it into 12-15 portions. Shape each portion into a ball and place them in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish or on a baking sheet.
  • Second Rise: Cover the rolls and let them rise again for 30-45 minutes until puffed.
  • Bake the Rolls: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the tops with melted butter and bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown.
  • Serve: Brush with more melted butter and serve warm.
