Description

Dolly’s Chicken and Stuffing Casserole is a warm, hearty dish that brings together tender chicken, savory stuffing, and a creamy sauce—a true comfort food classic! Perfect for family dinners or using up holiday leftovers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups cooked, shredded chicken (about 1 rotisserie chicken or 2 lbs boneless chicken breasts, cooked)
  • 1 (6 oz) box chicken-flavored stuffing mix (e.g., Stove Top)
  • 1 ½ cups chicken broth
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of chicken soup
  • 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of celery soup
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn), thawed
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat & Prep: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Prepare the Stuffing: In a medium bowl, combine the stuffing mix, melted butter, and chicken broth. Stir until the stuffing is moistened, then set aside to soak for 5 minutes.
  3. Mix the Base: In a large bowl, whisk together the cream of chicken soup, cream of celery soup, and sour cream until smooth. Fold in the shredded chicken, thawed vegetables, black pepper, and garlic powder.
  4. Assemble the Casserole: Spread the chicken mixture evenly in the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Fluff the stuffing with a fork and spread it evenly over the top of the chicken mixture.
  5. Bake: Bake uncovered for 30-35 minutes, until the stuffing is golden brown and the casserole is bubbly around the edges.
  6. Serve: Let cool for 5-10 minutes. Sprinkle with chopped parsley (if using) and serve warm. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Use leftover turkey and stuffing from Thanksgiving for a post-holiday twist—just skip the stuffing prep and use 2 cups of prepared stuffing.
  • For a crunchier topping, drizzle an extra 2 tbsp melted butter over the stuffing before baking.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
