  • 1/2 cup finely ground almond flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2/3 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 1/4 cups whole milk
  • 1 large egg

  • Vegetable oil cooking spray

For the chocolate glaze:

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract

For the topping:

  • Toasted almond slices

Instructions

  • Preheat oven and prepare pans: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease two 6-well donut trays with vegetable oil cooking spray.
  • Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, almond flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Prepare wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, combine milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  • Combine wet and dry: Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, whisking until combined and lump-free.
  • Fill donut pans: Fill donut pans with batter, leaving some space for rising.
  • Bake: Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • Cool: Let donuts cool in pans for 5 minutes before removing.
  • Make chocolate glaze: Melt chocolate, butter, and cream in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second increments, stirring between each, until smooth. Stir in almond extract.
  • Dip and top: Dip cooled donuts in chocolate glaze and sprinkle with toasted almond slices.
