Description

Double Chocolate Birthday Cookies are rich, soft, and packed with double the chocolate—cocoa powder and chocolate chips—making them a perfect treat for any celebration. These cookies are indulgent and sweet, perfect for birthday parties, or as a special snack for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips (optional, for added texture)
  • 1/4 cup colorful sprinkles (optional, for birthday effect)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, beating until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  6. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and mini chocolate chips (if using). If you’re making these cookies for a birthday, gently stir in the colorful sprinkles for a festive touch.
  7. Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing the cookies about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are set and the centers are soft. The cookies will firm up as they cool.
  9. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Enjoy your Double Chocolate Birthday Cookies, and share the joy with friends and family!

Notes

  • If you want even richer chocolate flavor, you can add a handful of chopped dark chocolate along with the chips.
  • To make the cookies extra chewy, add an extra 1/4 cup of brown sugar.
  • Feel free to adjust the sprinkles according to your party theme or use any other colorful decorations for a personalized touch.
  • These cookies are best enjoyed fresh, but you can store them in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
